The paper mentions that visualizations of categorical data are difficult to convey because the public is generally not familiar with the conventional ways of presenting it. Should we as designers try and use visualizations to both educate the public on ways of interpreting while also presenting information?

In what ways can we come up with some semblance of a universal standard for presenting data visualization?

How much if any is confirmation bias a problem when coming up with visualizations? As designers, when we try to interpret a dataset, does actively trying to come up with "a story to tell" reveal our inner biases?
